Gladys Books & Wine is a thoughtfully layered, two-level hospitality concept that transitions from an intimate coffee shop and bookstore upstairs to a warm, immersive wine bar below.

Camia Brown Interiors designed the space to reflect this vertical journey. The upper level serves as a light-filled cultural retreat, a curated bookstore and café where textured millwork, warm lighting, and comfortable seating invite quiet reading, conversation, and daytime gathering.

Descending to the lower level, the atmosphere shifts. The wine bar embraces deeper tones, richer materials, and a more intimate lighting strategy, creating a moody, sophisticated environment designed for evening connection and community events.

The design balances warmth and refinement through thoughtful millwork, curated lighting, textured finishes, and flexible seating arrangements that support both quiet reading and lively gatherings. Bookshelves become architectural moments, while material choices evoke richness without overwhelming the intimacy of the space.

Custom shelving, layered finishes, and intentional spatial planning unify both levels while allowing each to maintain its own identity. The result is a dynamic hospitality experience that evolves throughout the day — equal parts literary sanctuary and neighborhood gathering place.
